The Opportunity
The development site was formerly occupied by a primary school, which had since been demolished. This presented an opportunity to develop this vacant, part brownfield, part greenfield site, providing high-quality homes within an established suburban area with good access to local transport routes.
The Challenges
There were a number of challenges which had to be overcome, including contamination and remediation, site access restrictions, archaeology and the logistics of carrying out construction works within a partly occupied site.
The Outcome
The project provided much needed, high quality, rental homes in Sunderland. The homes proved to be extremely popular, securing long-term tenants.
