The five-acre site sits in a prominent location in the village of Esh Winning, 5 miles west of Durham City. The site has been designed to provide landscaped areas with play space and outdoor areas for residents.

The Opportunity
The opportunity arose to develop this unused site within a well-established residential area to create 89 new homes, including a substantial delivery of bungalows for the local area.
The Challenges
The site includes several abnormal conditions, including historic mine workings and a complex cut and fill operation due to the sloping terrain. These constraints had to be managed alongside the drainage strategy and storm water attenuation requirements. Additionally, a live and retained electrical sub-station sits in the middle of the site, with numerous utility diversions necessary to facilitate the plot works.

Works are currently on site and progressing to programme.
