The Opportunity
Phase 1 involved the extension to the existing building to provide an additional 34 units. Works included underpinning within the existing basement to support the additional loads imposed. Phase 3 saw the creation of new build block comprising of 30 new student accommodation units, associated common areas and external works.
The Challenges
Both phases were carried out in a ‘live environment’, whilst the building was still occupied by students, so it was paramount that careful liaison took place to ensure minimal disruption to the residents.
The Outcome
At both stages, the work was completed in time for the intake of the coming year of students.
