The Opportunity
The scheme involved the redevelopment of existing Victorian terraced houses alongside new-build properties. This allowed the preservation of traditional architecture whilst introducing modern amenities and housing to the area.
The Challenges
Working within buildings of this age required careful coordination to upgrade the existing structure and fabric to meet current Building Regulations and NHBC standards. With properties spread across several streets, close management of logistics, security and supervision was essential to maintain progress and consistency throughout the works.
The Outcome
The project was successfully completed, with the properties proving popular on completion. The development has since been recognised with awards, including The Sunday Times British Homes Award for ‘Refurbishment of the Year 2017’ and Northern Design Awards 2017 for ‘Best Residential Conversion’.
